Balboa Island Museum Celebrates One-Year Anniversary

Originally founded in 2000 on Balboa Island’s Marine Avenue, the Balboa Island Museum recently celebrated its one-year anniversary in a larger space a few blocks down Marine Avenue, which has since seen 80,000 guests come through its doors. This wonderful enclave continues to tell the history of Newport Beach through its Community Table Sunday suppers, book signings and private events. You can also enjoy and purchase prints of artist Gay Melody Sullivan’soriginal paintings of local Newport Beach scenes. Longtime Balboa Island resident Bob Lambert’s vintage postcard collection of scenes from Newport Beach and Balboa Island continues as a virtual exhibit. Lambert’s wife Sharonrecently donated his postcard collection of 2,000 to the museum. Also featured are Bill Watson’s handcrafted boats, with one of his creations, a ferry, on exhibit.
